Thank you for donating to help vulnerable children in our community.
Each year we provide hundreds of beds for children who don’t have a bed of their own, often sharing with a parent or multiple siblings, sleeping on a pile of clothes or on a mould or bed bug infested mattress.
Families affected by poverty are desperate and will think nothing of selling a bed for £20 to feed their hungry children. Sally-Anne* was sleeping on a pile of clothes when we visited to drop off food supplies. 16 year old Harry* was sleeping on a mattress with springs sticking out. Toni* was sharing a double mattress with 4 siblings.
Our partnership with local schools leads to referrals on behalf of families who are struggling to afford the basic essentials no child should be without. The Link Foundation believe that every child should have a bed of their own and the teachers who contact us tell us the difference a good night’s sleep can make to the learning potential of their pupils.
