Christmas is without doubt our busiest time of year at The Link Foundation, and the past week has been a perfect example of that. We have collected and delivered hundreds of Christmas presents to vulnerable children and teenagers living locally, while also organising our annual Christmas Dinner Appeal. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, many young people will have gifts to open on Christmas Day who otherwise may have gone without.
Donated toys have been distributed far and wide to schools, refuges, hostels and children’s centres across Slough, Maidenhead, Windsor, Bracknell, Aylesbury and High Wycombe, with our volunteers clocking up many miles throughout Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. We are deeply grateful to our long-term supporters St Piran’s, Stoke Park, The Beauty Banks, Mattel, LaplandUK and the Shanly Foundation, as well as the wonderful support from the boys at Eton College, Maidenhead Thames Rotary and Temple Lodge Freemasons. Our thanks also go to First Days for storing presents from The Giving Tree, and to Barnardo’s School Wokingham for their incredible work organising toys from the Reading Toy Run.
Alongside all the festive activity, we have continued our core purpose of offering a helping hand to families in crisis. This week alone we supported a widowed mother struggling to feed her children, a young mum who fled domestic abuse with her baby twins and urgently needed food and essentials, and a family living without beds who asked for help with mattresses. We are more grateful than ever for the donations that allow us to continue supporting those most in need.
It’s not too late to get involved with our Christmas Dinner Appeal , where for a £25 donation you could provide the essentials for struggling families to provide lunch on Christmaas Day
